Children aged 3-6 years in Bukerere, many from teenage mothers and families with limited resources, are the beneficiaries of this ECD setup. Early child development and care is an important program that prepares children for Primary Education, but in Uganda this sector is mainly run by private individuals as a business, giving children from poor families fewer chances of joining a Nursery or ECD center.
TATCO Uganda opened Apple Junior School in 2022 to support children attain the support they need as they grow and get ready for Primary education. The center is up and running, supporting a number of children in Bukerere and surrounding areas.
The center offers both physical and mental support programs, including Education activities, Play-Based Learning, Creative Expression, Health and Wellness, and mother/child care training.
